The Australasian Epidemiological Association (AEA) is the leading professional body for epidemiologists across Australasia, dedicated to advancing excellence in research, education, training, and advocacy in the discipline. Founded in 1987, the AEA brings together practitioners, academics, policymakers, and students to strengthen capacity
in epidemiology and to promote evidence-informed public health across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region in the following areas:
- Promoting methodological excellence. The AEA encourages innovation in epidemiological methods and fosters high standards in research, teaching and practice.
- Advocacy and policy engagement. Through submissions to government and strategic alliances, the AEA advocates for strong investment in epidemiological capacity, policy coherence, and the use of evidence in decision making.

Our theme for the 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting reflects our collective commitment to strengthening epidemiological capacity and collaboration across the Pacific region and accelerating skill development and advancing the practice of epidemiology to improve health outcomes.
