PARTNER WITH AEA 2026
The Australasian Epidemiological Association (AEA) is the leading professional body for epidemiologists across Australasia, dedicated to advancing excellence in research, education, training, and advocacy in the discipline. Founded in 1987, the AEA brings together practitioners, academics, policymakers, and students to strengthen capacity
in epidemiology and to promote evidence-informed public health across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region in the following areas:
- Promoting methodological excellence. The AEA encourages innovation in epidemiological methods and fosters high standards in research, teaching and practice.
- Advocacy and policy engagement. Through submissions to government and strategic alliances, the AEA advocates for strong investment in epidemiological capacity, policy coherence, and the use of evidence in decision making.
- Capacity building and professional development. The Association supports training, mentoring, workshops, conferences and special interest groups (SIGs), helping epidemiologists at all career stages to stay current, connect, and grow.
- Disseminating knowledge and fostering community. Through its fortnightly bulletins, Special Interest Groups, and an annual scientific meeting, the AEA ensures that emerging research, critical debates, and best practices are shared across its network.
- Expanding epidemiological capacity throughout our region is a core strategy for the AEA.
“One Ocean, One Health: Epidemiology for a Healthier Tomorrow, the Pacific and Beyond”
Our theme for the 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting reflects our collective commitment to strengthening epidemiological capacity and collaboration across the Pacific region and accelerating skill development and advancing the practice of epidemiology to improve health outcomes. In doing all this, the AEA plays a vital role in strengthening public health systems, informing policy responses to health challenges (such as disease outbreaks, chronic diseases and environmental health risks), and nurturing the next generation of epidemiologists throughout the region.
